EUROGUIDANCE
(www.euroguidance.org.uk)
is the network of
National Resource Centres
for Vocational Guidance
Euroguidance aims at promoting mobility:
- providing information on education and training opportunities
in Europe, for both guidance practitioners and citizens at
large, and
- supporting the exchange of quality information on education
and training systems and on qualifications in the European
Union, the European Economic Area, and the Accession Countries.
The network, which was set up in 1992-1993, currently
includes 65 centres, that are co-financed by the European Commission
(The Leonardo da Vinci programme) and by the relevant National
Authorities. In Cyprus, the National Authority is the Department of
Labour (Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance).
Each national center
collects, processes, disseminates and exchanges information
about:
- learning
opportunities
- opportunities for
mobility, including on-the-job placements
- the national
education and training systems
- qualifications and
certification
- pathways to
occupations and careers, and
- guidance issues,
Their products include databases, often available on the
Internet, books and information packages.
The Euroguidance centres also
- answer specific questions on training opportunities from
citizens, companies and institutions,
- promote transnational study visits, exchanges and in-service
training of guidance counsellors
- organise international seminars and conferences, focusing on
mobility for training in Europe.
